The Trickster: Publication and Poster Design - Semester 1, 2023
My first assignment of 2023, was to design a story book publication based on the trickster from a fairytale story.
The aim was to investigate theories and principles of narrative studies using typography and image-making conventions. I was to assume the role of a storyteller and designer to create designs that creatively depict research related to the narrative aspects of my chosen story, using the trickster as the theoretical framework. In tales, myths, and legends, the trickster is an archetypal character presenting a high level of intellect, plays tricks, and defies conventional behaviour.
I based my story narrative on the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, basing my design system around this character and rewriting the original story from the Cheshire Cat's perspective.
